My friends keep telling me they know what God wants them to do with their lives. I don't know what God wants for my life. What can I do in order to know the will of God for my life?


Knowing the will of God for our lives is a must and every Christian can come to know God's will for them. Let's look at an excellent section of scripture that gives step-by-step instructions on knowing the will of God.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.
(Rom. 12:1-2 NIV)

The first step we must take is to make a decision that our bodies (lives) belong to God and offer them up to serve Him. We must make a decision to renew our minds by feeding on the Word of God. Our overall attitude must reflect that God's Word is more important than anything else.

We will then come to a place where we are able to test and approve what God's will is for our lives. We will be sensitive enough to even know His perfect will for us. It's also important to realize that we progress in the will of God. We go from the good, to the pleasing, and then to the perfect will of God.

If these steps are followed, you'll come to a place where you're able to test and approve the will of God for your life and then begin to walk in it.
