Lamentations 2:19 says, "Pour out your feelings to the Lord, as you would pour water out of a jug...."

Do you sense any barrenness in your prayer life? Perhaps you need to do as it says here in Lamentations and pour out you heart to the Lord.

Your soul is somewhat like a container. It has lots of things within it. Most people just try to relate to God from the surface of that container, and as a result their relationship with Him stays very superficial.

Have you ever had a closet in your house that was so full you could only crack it open slowly because if you flung it open everything would fall out on top of you? You didn't want to swing it open wide because the possibility of getting hurt was too high. A lot of times people's souls can be like that.

They can get all cluttered up with emotional stuff, their own little doctrines of man, and other junk that they've accumulated over the years. What they need to do is open up the door to their heart and let it all fall out before the Lord. They need to get very honest before the Lord and expose all that is within themselves.

A lot of times we try to present to God our nice and neat spiritual side and keep everything else away from Him. Get REAL with Him! He already knows your problems, but can't help you unless you ask Him. Talk to Him and admit your weakness and ask Him to come in and help you change them.

You can actually keep God out of certain areas of your life by failing to communicate with Him. Instead, why don't you open up that door and be honest in prayer with Him. You know it's alright to say, "God, did you know what I thought about today? It was such a horrible thought. I need you to forgive me help me in that area of my life."

Pouring out your soul or heart is like cleaning out the cluttered closet. Some of the things need to be confessed before the Lord and put under the blood of Jesus and thrown out forever.

Other things, like cares or worries, need to be given to the Lord in faith. And there are other issues that need to be discussed with the Lord and then put back in a more orderly fashion.
