"For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come" (1 Tim. 4:8 KJV).

If you will live godly in Christ, it will turn out for your good in all things. But too often, Christians measure their own prosperity according to what they see someone else has. That is when it seems that the ungodly is prospering and the Christian is not. However, we must not look at other people to determine whether or not we are prosperous. We must look to the word only.

Godliness is simply living for God, or godly living. Living for God or exercising godly living is profitable for you. The word profit describes an advantageous gain, return or benefit that comes to you. So the Word said that living for God is an advantageous gain and benefit for you in all things.

But sometimes it seems that the ungodly gain. I purposely said seems to be. Sometimes it looks like those who aren't living for God, those who are taking the highway of sin, those who are avoiding God, are the ones that are winning. And it sometimes may appear on the surface as though the believers are losing. Additionally, they are being persecuted for living a godly life.

But the word of God told us that all that live godly in Christ shall suffer persecution. So you might be going through a time of persecution. And during times of persecution you have a tendency to get your eyes on the sinner, and it looks like they're having all the fun.

It may look that way in the short term. But you are looking in the wrong place. Your answer is not found in the sinner's life. Your answer is found in the Word of God. You will find your answer as you look to Jesus.

Keep your eyes on Jesus. He's the author and finisher of your faith. If the Word of God says that living godly is beneficial to you, then know that it is. It may look as though the sinner is prospering and having all the advantages over you. But you must look at the long term.

Over time, you will begin to see the word of God at work in your life because of all the time you spent in the word and in prayer. And you will begin to see the scripture come to pass in your life as you experience profitability in God.
