Teams are good. Teams require teamwork. Teams are God's idea for maximum productivity. Jesus had a team; they were called His disciples.

When a team is built by God, it is built for success. Teams that are unified are winning teams. People that become part of teams are joiners. Joiners are people who become integral parts of a group, organization, family, ministry, church or team.

Joiners are winners. Winners are joiners. Winners unify with the members of their team. Winners press forward through trials, difficulties and challenges. Winners have been known to "step on toes," tackle, and subdue their opponents.

Not unlike an all-star football team, we, God's people, are a winning team! We huddle together (in prayer, worship, and fellowship) for direction, we suit up for the game (putting on the whole armor of God), and we strategize and learn new ways to overcome the plans of the adversary. ("Pray without ceasing" - 1 Thess. 5:17).

In the game of football, huddles are essential. Huddles are defined as "crowding closely together, so as to confer, consult and receive instruction."

In life, huddles are necessary. Huddles depict the spirit of unity that sparks the flame to win victories. Babies huddle in their daycare programs; kids huddle on playgrounds and in parks. Teenagers huddle at malls and parties. Adults huddle in seminars, boardrooms, clubs and group therapies. Some people huddle at churches. Everyone wants to get in on a huddle!

Cloistering at Cornelius' House
A godly man, a centurion in the Italian army, by vocation, called a group to huddle in his home, both family and friends, to wait on the word of the Lord. He was a generous man who "prayed to God always" (Acts 10: 2b).

He was a visionary who was willing to see beyond the natural realm. He was a man who experienced an angelic visitation that forever changed the nature of his life, his family (huddle) and his ministry (huddle). God called to Cornelius (Acts 10), and he answered. God instructed Cornelius, and he obeyed!

Another godly man, Coach Bill McCartney of Promise Keepers, advocates huddles. Coach said, "I agree, our richest moments are experiences and challenges that we share with others. However, unity must never come at the expense of truth. Truth is more important than unity. Paul wrote, 'be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.' This is the kind of unity that transforms."

What began as a huddle of God-fearing people, concluded as a cloister, a "covered walk," a monastery, a holy residence of those who vowed allegiance to the Living God, as the truth was made known! What time is it? It's time to cloister at Cornelius' house!

The Apostle Peter was resting and praying on a housetop and fell into a trance. Peter was instructed to go to Cornelius' house, "doubting nothing" (Acts 10: 20), and to share the vision and the word that the Lord revealed to him on the house-top.

As Cornelius was of non-Jewish heritage, it was "...unlawful for a Jewish man (Peter) to keep company with or go to one of another (gentile) nation" (Acts 10:28). But, the Lord's revelation to Peter was, "God has shown me that I should not call any man common."

Thankfully, Cornelius' clan had readied themselves for a paradigm shift, responding in faith to Peter's visit. Peter's housetop revelation, when imparted by the power of the Holy Spirit to the team at Cornelius' house, gave way to the "roofing" of the holy cloister that received the baptism with the Holy Spirit, evidencing the inception of a covered walk in the Lord!

This divine occasion would not have occurred if Peter had not been available and submitted to the voice of the Lord. Nor, would it have occurred, if Cornelius had not been a God-fearer. Can we expect similar divine encounters today?

Joining The God-Seekers
The Lord has been preparing His Church for an occasion such as this for the last many years. Hearts have been made ready to receive God's truth. God-seekers are wanting a personal encounter with the Living Savior. Might we join ourselves to the God-seekers, that they can receive the impartation of the Holy Spirit to become God-lovers?

Cornelius' house is no different than yours or mine. Won't you consider cloistering at Cornelius' house? The field is white with harvest...it's a field goal, for sure!
