Did you ever have a three-year-old child who wanted to ask you the question, "Why?" all the time? "Why are you doing that? Why is the sky blue? Why did that happen?"

But did you ever think about the fact that even though we're grown up, we sometimes act like a three-year-old with the Lord?

How? We go to Him with all of our "whys." Why did You let that happen? Why can't You make this change? Why haven't you answered my prayer yet?

Too often, we want to find the cause for the situation or problem we are facing. Why did we end up sick; Why are our finances in trouble; Why did that awful thing happen?

It was no different back in the time of Jesus. It says this in the book of John:
Walking down the street, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked, "Rabbi, who sinned: this man, or his parents, causing him to be born blind?"

Jesus said, "You're asking the wrong question, You're looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do."
(John 9 MSG)
We have a responsibility when we get into difficult situations, and that is to not question why it happened or to look for someone to blame. We need to decide to not waste one minute of our time doing that, but do what we just read—to look instead for what God can do!

Your situation may look dismal or impossible, but if you'll quit wasting your time asking, "Why?" and instead spend that time in the Word, you'll remember that it may look impossible, but with God all things are possible!

Read What God Can Do
It might look like there's not enough, but His Word says He supplies our needs according to His riches in heaven. Your body may be feeling rough, but His Word says that by His stripes, you were healed! You don't need to know why—you need to know what God has to say about your situation!

Look for how He is going to pull you out of that situation—how He is going to turn it around. I had an opportunity to do that this recently in my life. My granddaughter, Madeline, had a very bad cough, so my daughter took her in to have it checked.

The doctor ran some tests, and said he thought she might be having congenital heart failure. He said she needed to go straight to Children's Hospital. Now, in the natural, that could've put us all in a panic, and we could've filled our minds with "whys."

When my daughter was pregnant with Madeline, the doctors said the baby would not survive the pregnancy. So I could have asked, "Why is this happening when we know that the very fact that Madeline is alive is a miracle? How could this happen?"

Thank the Lord, we've been growing up in God, and we didn't waste a minute with whys.

Instead we looked for what God can do! We immediately began to pray, remembering all that God has done in the past, remembering that HE said Madeline was fearfully and wonderfully made.

And even if there was a problem with her heart, He was more than able to heal it before she even made it to the hospital. Then we got excited, looking for what God can do!

When they got to the hospital, they ran their tests and found that Madeline had a perfectly healthy heart. Was it because there hadn't been anything wrong to begin with, or was it because she was healed on the way to the hospital?

We don't know, but this one thing we DO know! Quit asking why and look instead for what God can do—He'll do big things for you!
