There's an old adage that says," If you don't know where you're headed, it doesn't matter when you get there." That may be true, but that's not how we, as children of God,  should live.

People who have an advantage in life are people of vision. We know from the Bible that God is a God of vision.

The Importance Of A Vision
Sometimes people can live without really living. You have to know why you're here. There has to be a reason for your life; you can't just be another number, another person taking up space. If that's all you think you are, you won't try anything and you'll have no hope. God has created us unique with a gift and a calling specifically for each of us.

Let me tell you what a vision is: something that's not seen yet. We'll perish if we can't see (God's vision for our life by faith) what we don't see (in the physical world) yet. A vision of God's purpose for us will lead us all the way though our life.

What The Word Says
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)Where there is no vision, the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Habakkuk 2:2-4 (NKJV) Then the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision. And make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed timed, but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it. Because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; But, the just shall live by faith.

How To Get A Vision
The only way to get a vision is to get it from God. He has planned great things for each of us, but we have to ask Him to reveal them to us. God says, "You do not have because you do not ask" (James 4:2). To get a vision, we have to ask for it. We have to say, "God what do you have planned for me?"

Psalm 139:16 says that His plan for us was written in a book before we were ever born. God says His plans for us are great and mighty. He says His plans are to prosper us and give us a future and a hope, and not to harm us. He says if we will ask Him, He'll reveal His plans to us and your children (Jer. 33:3, Jer. 29:11, Duet.29:29).

A vision is not just for you in your lifetime; it's to build something that lasts forever.

The Next Step
We have to take it one step further, though. We have to put the vision into action. Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision is just passing the time. A vision with action can change the world.

What does all this do for us? Once we get the vision and write it down, it gives us faith that that vision will manifest in the natural. Faith comes when we hear the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).

When we seek God, we'll find Him and He will show us great and mighty things to come. By putting what we know into action, He will lead us in steps. We can rest assured knowing that the Word tells us that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion (Phil. 1:6)!
