If I were to ask you "Where is God?” what would be your first thought? I believe as Christians we need to cultivate the "God In Us" mentality. The Bible says over and over in the New Testament that God in Christ through the Holy Spirit is actually living inside of us! If we will renew our minds to this truth it will transform every aspect of our lives. It will change the way we think, the way we treat others, the way we pray (both for ourselves and others), the way we speak and in general how we conduct our lives on a daily basis.

It is so easy to lose our intimacy with God when we have a mindset that God is very distant from us, when in fact we don't have to look any further than within us to find His presence.

When Peter and John were going to prayer at the temple one morning they came across a man who was brought there daily by others to sit and beg for money. This man was born paralyzed and at the time he was over forty years old.

As he saw Peter and John approaching he began to ask for money (alms) and the Bible records this:
And Peter fastening his eyes upon him with John said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
(Acts 3:4-7)
When Peter said to that man such as I have give I thee; he had the awareness that God was not far off in another galaxy somewhere, He was right on the inside of him. As Peter reached out his hand to grab this man's right hand, I believe that Jesus, through the person of the Holy Ghost, was actually reaching out of Peter to heal that man.

I refer to this as being "God conscious"; being acutely aware that I am one of the temples that God inhabits. When you read through the New Testament with this thought in mind, it seems to open up a new window of revelation as to how God wants us to think, talk and act as His ambassadors in the earth.

We are not just "sinners saved by grace" nor are we a pile of filthy rags. We are God's chosen people. We are a royal priesthood. We are a holy nation. We are the representatives for Almighty God in the earth. We are His salt in the earth. We are His light in the earth. We are His mouthpieces (oracles) in the earth. We are His hands and feet in the earth! Hallelujah!!

One thing that has helped me in praying for others, especially when laying hands on them, is to realize as I am praying that I don't have to look up to the ceiling and shout as loud as I can (although a raised voice tone is sometimes necessary when taking authority over demonic powers as Jesus demonstrated). All I have to do is look into my spirit where God's Spirit dwells and there I find all of the resources of heaven at my disposal.

This is how Jesus ministered to people. He spent time with the Father (sometimes all night in prayer) to rejuvenate His spirit and get refreshed by and in the presence of God, then He would go out and dispense what was already inside of Him.

As I read through the book of Acts and even the epistles I see believers and ministers who had an awareness of the indwelling presence of God within them at all times. I believe this is where the Lord wants us as a body to get back to in this day. The presence of God living in us should be more real to us than another human being standing next to us in the flesh.

Take for example the story in Acts 13 verses 6 through 12. In this story Paul is attempting to witness to a man named Sergius Paulus about Jesus, but a sorcerer named Elymas attempted to interfere. Paul, under the direction of the Holy Ghost, called him a child of the devil and pronounced temporary blindness upon him. Immediately he was struck blind and the Bible says, "Then the deputy (Sergius Paulus), when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord".

There was such an awesome display of the power of God that he immediately gave his life to Jesus. Paul didn't say, "If you will excuse me I am going to go in the corner and pray and see if I can get a hold of God to handle this matter". No, God was inside of Paul instructing him and directing him as to what to do and how to respond to this demonic interference right there on the spot.

We serve a "right now" God, who desires to show Himself strong and mighty on your behalf. He wants to manifest as your healer, your protector, your provider, your shield and buckler, your wisdom giver, your everything!

I want to close with this wonderful scripture from Ephesians 3:
Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works IN US!
(Eph. 3:20)
Are you using that power?
