I've always said that revival must start with a repentant heart. One must be forever repentant over sin. For true revival to come there must be true repentance. A "brokenness of revival" is the result of people not dealing with their sins and the sins of their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. In addition, we should render our heart unto God - or simply put, we must repent and return our hearts back to God.

In this teaching, however, I want to discuss yet another result of the brokenness of revival that is apparent in some segments of the Body of Christ. And that is the issue of the sacrifice of your heart.

Let's Examine the Concept of Sacrifice
We do not sacrifice animals any longer, but the sacrifice that God wants from us is a broken and sacrificed heart. Psalm 51:16-17 (KJV) says, "For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."

Do you remember the story of Abraham and Isaac? Abraham and Sarah believed God for a son because Sarah could not have any children. God told Abraham that He was going to make him the father of many nations and that his decedents were to be as numerous as the stars.

Then the day came that Sarah became pregnant with child and when it came time for her delivery, she bore a son and they named him Isaac. As the years passed, Abraham reared Isaac in the ways of the Lord.

One day the Lord said to Abraham. How much do you love me? Abraham responded; I love you, Lord. The Lord answered and said, "Go and sacrifice your son, Isaac."

Wow…I wonder how Abraham felt when the Lord told him to sacrifice his son in whom he loved so much. I wonder what kind of conversation Abraham and Isaac had that day as they walked toward the mountain to sacrifice to the Lord.

As Abraham and Isaac were walking up that mountain, Isaac asked his father a question. "Father, where is the sacrifice for the burnt offering?" Abraham responded to his son. Isaac, "God will provide a sacrifice." Abraham knew the Lord wanted him to sacrifice Isaac. I wonder how he felt, knowing what was about to take place.

The time came for the sacrifice. Abraham bound his son and laid him on the altar. Abraham raised the knife and was about to slay Isaac, when suddenly an angel appeared and stop him. A ram also appeared in the bushes next to them.

Isaac was able to get off the altar that day.

Another Sacrifice
This story is symbolic to when God sacrificed His son Jesus. Over two thousand years ago, Jesus sacrificed His heart when He was laid on that wooden alter. But Jesus could not get up off that alter. Why? Because God the Father nailed His Son there that day.

Every blow of that Roman hammer hitting those nails that pierced Jesus' hands and feet was for your healing, your poverty, your pain and sorrow, and your sin. Jesus sacrificed His heart that day. If Jesus sacrificed His heart, we must also sacrifice our hearts. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).

The Healing of the Heart
Once the brokenness, the rending, the humbleness, the sacrifice of the heart takes place, then the healing of the heart will begin.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house that my name may be there forever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
(2 Chron. 7:14-16)
Dear Saints of God, it is time to seek God's face like we have never done before. We are living in the last days and Jesus is coming soon.

We need to examine our hearts. We need to make sure our heart is right in every area. If there is sin in our lives that is unrepentant of, we need to repent of it and get it right with God. In Psalm 66:18 it says, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."

Have you ever felt that God was not listening to you? If so, I encourage you to examine your heart to see if there could be any hindrances. Remember God is a God of the heart. If there are things in our life that could be stopping the blessings of God from coming to us, we need to allow the examination to begin.

Once we turn from those things that so easily beset us, then God will come and heal our land.

What is the land in your life? It is your marriage; it is your children; it is other relationships; and it is your finances. Could it be a broken heart because someone hurt you? Ask God to forgive you if there could be anything in your life that is not right and let God heal your broken heart, your broken body, your broken relationships. Right now!

In the name of the mighty Lord Jesus, Be Healed! Mighty Holy Spirit, let your power flow into the one who needs your touch right now, in Jesus' name. In Jesus' name receive your healing. Amen!
