Don't wait until trouble comes. Start now to undergird your children with the strong power of prayer. No matter how young or how old they are, they will benefit from your prayers.

First of all, pray for your children's salvation. Then pray concerning the things they have to face in life - not just the big things, but the little, day-by-day things that come up before them.

Pray for God's purpose and plan for each of your children, in the present and the future: What kind of job will he someday hold? Who will she marry? What kind of person does God want him to be?

And while you are praying for them, pray for yourself. Pray each day that God will help you be the kind of parent you need to be. Pray for His wisdom and guidance in working out the practical, day-to-day realities of child rearing.

If God only wanted us to be saved, He could strike us dead as soon as we accepted Him. But the truth is, He wants us to be victorious in this life as well as the next. As a parent, you have the greatest opportunity to help your kids live victorious lives, through both your prayers and your example.

How blessed are the children whose mother and/or father know how to pray! They will never be able to escape the power of those prayers.

Example of Prayer for Your Children
Father, in Jesus' name, we pray for our children, surrounding them with our faith in You as our Lord and faith in Your Word, knowing that You watch over Your Word to perform it.

We believe, Lord, that our children are Your disciples, taught by You and obedient to Your will. We believe that great is their peace and undisturbed composure. We believe that You, Father, contend with that which contends with them, and You give them safety and ease them.

Father, we believe You will perfect that which concerns us, and we cast the care of our children, once and for all, over on You.

We confess that our children obey us, their parents, in the Lord. They honor, esteem and value us as precious to them, for this is the first commandment with a promise: that all may be well with them and that they may live long on the earth.

As their parents, we will train them in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it.

Our children are the head and not the tail. They shall be above only, and they shall not be beneath. They are blessed when they come in and go out.

We pray that our children will choose life, because they love You, Lord; that they will obey Your voice and cling to You, for You are their life and the length of their days.

We believe that You give Your angels charge over them to accompany them, defend them, and preserve them in all their ways. You are their refuge and their fortress.

Now we thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and our confession of faith. We give You all the praise and honor as the God Who is more than enough!
