I was fortunate to grow up with PRAYING EXAMPLES in my home. My mother and my father have left strong imprints upon my memory of what prayer is really all about…not just the morning tradition, but their lifestyles that were always open to the very call to pray.

Thank God for those examples.

As great as those examples were to me, let me tell you about an even greater example.

Look To The Word
Isaiah 59:16 tells us that there was a time when God was astonished that there was no intercessor between Himself and man's sin. It goes on to tell us that God's arm sent salvation unto us.

In order for us to understand the fullness of that Scripture, notice Isaiah 53:12, "And He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Jesus came to earth as an intercessor, one who would stand in the gap between God and man in order to bring reconciliation to us.

The cost of His role of intercessor was great…HE HAD TO DIE…yet He did so because He came to earth as an intercessor.

Hebrews 9:24-28 teaches us that Christ entered into the presence of God and offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins once and for all, and Hebrews 7:23-25 says, "He ever liveth to make intercession."

Just think, Jesus came to earth as an intercessor. The Word of God, on many occasions, tells us that Jesus continually drew away from the multitudes to pray, even praying all night at times…He was an intercessor.

Now He is at the right hand of God making intercession for us. He came as an intercessor, He died as an intercessor, and now He lives…as an intercessor!

Jesus is our example in all things in this life. We need to find the same commitment to prayer that Jesus found. We need to realize that Jesus was a praying example!
