Can a bad relationship between a husband and wife hinder God's blessings in their lives?

How a husband and wife treat each other will affect how God blesses them. One of two Scriptures that prove this point is:
He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
(Prov. 28:13 NIV)
This verse indicates that any type of unrepentant sin will stop the blessings of God from coming into a person's life. This would include the way husbands and wives treat each other. If they treat each other unjustly or improperly, and there is no true repentance for their actions, then God won't prosper or bless them. Remember, repentance means to do an about face and not continue the same behavior.

A second Scripture that also reveals God's truth is 1 Peter 3:7 (NIV):
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
(1 Peter 3:7 NIV)
If prayers can be hindered because of the way we treat our wives or husbands, then blessings can also be hindered. God wants couples to treat each other with respect and love. In order to do this, we need to practice this next verse of Scripture: "Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath" (Eph. 4:26 NKJV).

Make a decision that you will do everything in your power to work out the conflict in your marital relationship; it will make your life better and allow the blessings of God to flow to you.
