I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior about a year ago. After I did, my father, who was paying my college tuition and allowing me to live at home, gave me an ultimatum. "Forget this Jesus stuff and I'll continue to pay your tuition and allow you to live here."

I told him that I couldn't let go of Jesus. As a result I am now on my own with two years of college remaining. What should I do?

I want to first of all encourage you to continue to respect and love your father. He's doing what he believes is right. However, I believe you made the right decision and I can guarantee you that things will change.

The book of 1 Peter discusses the subject of suffering loss and being persecuted because of being a Christian. The Bible forewarns us that if we make a commitment to Jesus, we will suffer persecution of one sort or another.

After Peter exhorts these believers to stay committed to Jesus during the times of persecution, he makes them a promise.
And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.
(1 Peter 5:10)
The Christian who is suffering persecution is told it will only last for a season and that God Himself will actually restore the person. This means that anything we lose as a result of serving the Lord, God will return to us.

He also will make you strong, firm, and steadfast in the faith. Keep loving and praying for your dad as you continue to serve the Lord.
