"Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven" (Matt. 18:18).

Christians have a great responsibility in the earth. It doesn't matter how much we want to look away from it, God has established our part to play in this life. By placing in us the ability to cause Him to intervene in people's lives, we have a responsibility to use that authority and dominion on the behalf of other people.

Notice that God gave man the authority to bind and loose. It doesn't say "Whatsoever God shall bind...". It said, "Whatsoever ye [or you] shall bind...."

The word "bind" means "to paralyze; to stop in its tracks." You can stop things in its tracks by the use of your mouth, because heaven is going to back whatever you bind. On the contrary, if you don't bind it, there is nothing for heaven to bind.

However, if you don't stand in your dominion and authority even though God wants to help you out, nothing will happen because God is waiting on you. The next thing Jesus says is, "Whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

The word "loose" means "to break the grip." Whatever grip you break will be broken in heaven. Matthew 18:19 says that two of you can agree on something to get God's power in a situation. You must ask in the name of Jesus. The name is the key to operating in your dominion and authority.

Why would Jesus point out that two is better than one when one already has awesome authority? He does that because it is important for the two to agree.

The Amplified Bible says, "... if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together)...."

For example, when an orchestra is warming up each instrument is playing its own sound. The brass, strings, percussion, and wind instruments are playing all kinds of sounds. Then when that conductor begins and raises his hands, they all begin to play from the same sheet of music. It all comes together with harmony.

God's desire is that we harmonize in the body of Christ. We can harmonize when we walk in love toward one another. Even though we are all different, we must come together and act on the word of God in our relationships with each other, thereby playing from the same sheet of music.

When we can have this type of agreement, then there is nothing impossible for us. We are then able to pray for people who are in distress, and see them set free.
