Each church and even each individual Christian should have a target of who they are trying to reach for Christ.

Target groups are people in your community on which you focus your attention and efforts to share the Gospel with.

You can identify your target group: demographically, culturally, spiritually or geographically. These are people you connect with and relate to somehow.

There is a draw in your heart by the Holy Spirit toward this group. You may even establish a profile for your group.

You do this by asking several questions such as: "How old are they?" "What do they wear?" "What are their hobbies?" "How much money do they make?" "What kind of car do they drive?" "What kind of music do they listen to?"

Get to know your target group; be relevant to them without compromising your standards or mission. You may ask, "Why do we need a Target Group? Shouldn't we try to reach everyone?"

I remember several years ago when I was learning how to hunt. I would walk along in the field with my shotgun in hand. When a flock of pheasant flew up in front of me I just opened fire on the whole group.

I never got even one out of the whole group until I learned to take aim at one at a time and then they started to drop.

Aiming to lead others to Christ is the same way.

Even the Apostle Peter had his target group—the Jews. And Paul proclaimed that he was sent to the Gentiles!

Who are you sent to? John 17:10 and 18 says that we are sent to the world just the same way that Jesus was sent and that the Glory (Anointing) comes to us as we reach the group we are sent to.

Whether you are pastoring a church or you are a single Christian worker, here is how you get started:
  1. Pray for God's direction
  2. Identify your target group
  3. Set goals for reaching this group
  4. Establish a RELEVANT method or strategy
  5. Take action now!
Things are not only changing in the Former USSR, they are changing right where you are. Find your target group, make a list of them by name, and begin to pray for them.

Only then will you begin to see them come to Christ...one by one.
