Several decades ago, deep in the Ozarks, my great-grandfather taught school and preached the Word. He was a circuit rider. Much of his education came from a series of books called The Biblical Educator. It is such a blessing for me to now have these books in my possession.

At the turn of the century, the Word was being taught and people were being born into the church. However, the popular view of prophecy by the theologians of the day was full of opinions and speculation. The Biblical Educator was very strong in its belief that Israel would never physically become a nation. The Biblical Educator asked this question. "How can a nation that has not been a nation for 2000 years ever become a nation again, especially when they have no national currency, language, constitution, or homeland?"

The book went on to say that what the Bible meant when it said Israel would become a nation again was that spiritually every Jew would become united in their hearts as one nation. However, it would be totally impossible for them to become a nation in their Promised Land, especially when their land was owned by their enemy, the Ottoman Turks.

The Biblical Educator was wrong. On May 15, 1948 the nation of Israel was reborn with its own language, currency, constitution, and land. Within 50 years, the thing that seemed totally impossible became a reality.

My great-grandfather did not live to see the return of Jesus. But we are 100 years closer now and much prophecy has been fulfilled. When my grandmother was a teenager, she saw her first automobile. During all of her youth she traveled by way of horse and wagon. Before she passed away, she saw astronauts go into outer space and men walk on the moon.

From the creation of man through six thousand years, man traveled with the assistance of animals. In one generation that changed. The scriptures tell us that in the last days knowledge will increase. We are truly in the last of the last days.

The church has a great work to do. We are carrying the baton on the last leg of the race. What previous generations have looked toward is coming to pass. It's time for the church to stand up and be the glorious church, anointed and walking in authority as Jesus prophesied.

While in prayer, I heard the Spirit of God speak to my heart and tell me that this coming year is the year of the church. As we prepare for His return, the church must do all that Jesus commanded. We are approaching the days when every believer must walk in total victory with the love of God pouring out in such a way that people are drawn to a loving God. The time is upon us. It's time for the church to stand up and be the church.
