There are Christians today who are living the abundant life. They're healthy and happy, living in gorgeous homes, driving luxury cars, taking dream vacations and enjoying close family relationships. They are like trophies that display God's goodness and faithfulness to prosper His people.

Yet, while some Christians have tapped into the abundant life, others are still struggling, living from paycheck to paycheck, uncertain of their rights and privileges as children of God. Well I'm here to tell you that God wants to prove His goodness to all of His children-including you!

You may say, "I don't need very much. I'm happy with the little bit I have." Child of God, the Word clearly tells us that there should be a distinction between His children and those who don't know Him. Isaiah 61:9 says, "And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed."

You see, a prosperous lifestyle is attractive. God wants the world to see that His children are empowered to prosper. The word empower means "to license." In other words, God has given you a license to succeed.

Heirs According to the Promise
The unsaved world knows that children of royalty live grand lifestyles and are exposed to the best life has to offer. Likewise, since Jesus is the King of kings, and you are a joint heir with Him, you are a member of God's royal family; therefore you are entitled to live a prosperous life.

Galatians 3:29 says when we belong to Christ, we are heirs to everything God promised Abraham. How you live on the earth today, however, is limited to your knowledge of what belongs to you and your willingness to receive it.

For years, Christians have accepted the idea of "just enough." We didn't know that material wealth was part of the covenant that God made with Abraham, so we believed it was wrong to possess it. We also didn't know that by the stripes of Jesus we were already healed (1 Peter 2:24). But 3 John chapter 2 clearly states how God wants us to live: "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

You see, until your soul prospers in the knowledge of what the blood of Jesus has already purchased for you, your heart won't be willing to receive it. And when you don't know what is yours or you're unwilling to receive His best, you choke your prosperity. In other words, you hinder it from manifesting itself in your life.

Child of God, you may be comfortable with your standard of living, but it's nothing compared to what He has planned for you!

Receive God's Best
I remember the first time I was challenged to release the chokehold on my prosperity. My wife, Taffi, and I dreamed of owning a specific kind of home that, at the time, was one of the best. When God blessed us to buy one, we thought, This is it. Now we're settled. We were comfortable and satisfied.

One day a friend of mine came by and we went to look at houses. As we passed by the lovely homes, the Lord showed me that He wanted to give me more. He said, Don't get satisfied, because I want to do exceeding and abundantly more than you can think. I have a covenant of increase with you. I was about to settle for less when God wanted to increase me more and more (Ps. 115:14). When I released the chokehold, I received the manifestation of God's Word.

Psalm 35:27 says, "Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of His servant." That means God loves you tremendously. And, like a father, He desires that you be healthy, happy and enjoy life to the fullest.

Because I'm a father, I can relate the love and desire I have for my children to the love and desire God has for His children. I want the best for them. I want them to excel, mature and be healthy. If all of my children were prosperous except one, I would be displeased. And if all of them experienced wealth, but lacked health or godly friendships, I would be unhappy.

Likewise when you are lacking in any area of your life, God is not pleased. He can't get glory for being faithful to His Word if your standard of living is the same as that of unbelievers. In other words, your prosperity is supposed to draw the unsaved to God.

Child of God, take time to get in the Word and meditate on what belongs to you. As you renew your mind to God's promises, you won't choke your prosperity. Instead, receive what He has always intended for you. Your Father is El Shaddai-the God Who is more than enough. He is more than able to do exceeding abundantly above all you can ask or even think (Eph. 3:20). Now allow Him to do it for you!
