"For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Gen. 3:5).

Have you ever felt like you had to have more, or that you don't ever have enough? Well, those are lies from the devil; he uses them to get you to lust after more things. This kind of thinking will change your attitude and have you believing that you never have enough.

Having said that…when is enough, enough?

In Genesis 3:5 Satan tells Eve a lie to get her to eat the fruit from the tree that God said to avoid. He appeals to her lust for more as she listens to him.

Now right then and there, Adam should have said something. He had authority to tell that serpent to shut his mouth. He could have told him to never come in this section of the garden again. And that's exactly what would have happened had Adam used his authority.

But Adam failed in his responsibility to protect the woman God gave him. And even though Eve had everything: a beautiful garden to live in, a handsome, smart man, and whatever she wanted when she wanted it - she wanted more.

People are the same way today. If only I had more, I'd be happy. If only I had more money, a bigger house, or a bigger car. If only I had a taller man, a shorter man, a lighter woman, or a darker woman. If only I had this or that, or something else, I would be happy.

No you wouldn't; having more doesn't decide happiness. Making a decision to be content with what you have determines whether you're happy or not.

Eve had everything. Yet Satan still appealed to her lust to want more. You can have everything too, and Satan can still talk you into something else, if you allow yourself to be driven by lust.

So when is enough, enough? The Bible tells us to be grateful with what we have. The Apostle Paul puts it this way: "I know both how to abase and I know how to abound. I have learned that whatever state I am in to be content."

So, when you find yourself wanting more, just remember God's blessings come with contentment. It's your decision. Start thanking God for what you have, now. Tell God you only want what He has for you. Certainly, God knows when enough is enough.
