No one thinks of their mother without thinking about home. And home should be a picture and reminder of Heaven itself.
Home sweet home—the training ground.

Three of the sweetest words in the English language are mother, home and Heaven.
These three words all center on the middle one. No one thinks of their mother without thinking about home. And home should be a picture and reminder of Heaven itself.

God ordained that the spiritual lives of His people be centered in the home.
You shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul...You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to given them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.
(Deut. 11:18-2)
1. Lead your child to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

What the Word Says:
  • John 3:3 Unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
  • John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  • Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”, (that is the Word of Faith which we preach). That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
2. Help your children grow their faith.

What the Word Says:
  • Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
  • Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success.
  • Hebrews 11:6 But without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
  • 1 John 5:4 And this is the victory that overcomes the world – our faith.
3. Teach your children submission to authority.

What the Word Says:
  • Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
  • Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on earth.
  • Proverbs 6:20 My son, keep your fathers command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart; tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will lead you; When you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you.
4. Teach your children to guard their heart. (What they read, look at, and listen to.)

What the Word Says:
  • Proverbs 23:7 As he thinks in his heart, so is he.
  • Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
  • Phil. 4:8 Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.
5. Teach your children how to pray.

What the Word Says:
  • Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
  • 1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
  • John 16:24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name, Ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.
