Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
(Luke 2:14 KJV)
The night Jesus was born, there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep when suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared among them.

The angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest heaven..." Luke 2:14 (NIV)

The "glory to God," which the new-born Savior was to bring, is followed by, "peace on earth," of which He was to be the prince (Isa 9:6).

They don’t say glory to God in heaven, where angels are, but, they use a rare expression, “in the highest heaven," or "on high."

And peace on earth, a restored relationship with the Father, was the prime errand of the Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior.

John 10:10 (NLT) The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
