When a staff member just refuses to follow direction, do you take decisive action?

The Lord told Judah, "I have spoken to you again and again, and you refuse to listen or obey" (Jeremiah 34:14, NLT).

We should be reasonably patient with staff, but when a person fails to follow our instructions, we must take action.

Take that person aside, outline what must change and by when, and the consequences that will be applied if improvement is not made.

Then give regular feedback, both positive and negative, and ensure that the person has truly changed direction.

Staff will become more productive.
