King Solomon instructed, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it" (Proverbs 3:27, NASB).
We may be tempted to pay our accounts slow and then invest the cash in growing our business.
The danger in that is losing your cushion and exposing yourself to additional risk.
If cash flow tightens and the money we had to pay current bills is tied up, we become delinquent.
The ultimate pressure may force us to scramble for cash or even face bankruptcy.
