“Let every man be quick to hear,” James 1:19.

How well are you listening?

Leaders are people that have opinions and they want to be heard. You want your kids to listen to you, but how well are you listening to them?

If you want to reach the leaders in you class you need to take some time to listen to them.

I was having a conversation with a CP at one of our Transform Conferences. I asked her a question, “What is your biggest challenge right now?”

“I can’t get my 5th grade boys to enter into worship,” She replied.

I asked her, “Are you doing motions with your worship songs?”

“Yes, we are.”

“What do the 5th grade boys think of the motions?”

“They think the motions are stupid.”

Someone else chimed in. “You just need to pray that they will get their hearts right and then they will want to do the motions.”

Wait a minute. Where does it say in the Bible that your heart isn’t right if you don’t want to do the motions? The key to corporate worship is participation, but worship isn’t everyone doing the same thing at the same time.

If you want the kids to participate in worship then ask the older kids what they want to do? If your 4th and 5th graders are participating in worship you will reach the whole group.

I love all the new technology we have today, but it really doesn’t help unless we take the time to listen.

Our kids are asking us, “Can you hear me now?”
