I don't understand why the Bible calls us, the Christians, the temple of God. Could you explain what that means?

Let's take a look at that specific verse:
And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people."
(2 Cor. 6:16 NKJ)
The word temple means house. We are said to be the house of the living God. This means that God lives on the inside of the Christian.

According to various other Scriptures, it is God, the Holy Spirit, who lives on the inside of us. Notice the following verses:
...even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
(John 14:17 NKJ)

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
(1 Cor. 6:18-20 NKJ)
God Almighty lives on the inside of Christians! Our bodies are God's house! What an exciting revelation.

God the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of Christians. Wherever we go, God goes with us. We are not alone in this world because God Almighty is dwelling in us.
