Matthew 26:41 (NLT)
Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak!

Those were the words of Jesus to His disciples in the last hours He spent with them. When Jesus was getting ready to be crucified, He asked the Father to pass that suffering from Him, to make it go away if it was His will.

But He knew He had to drink from the cup and go through crucifixion so He could fulfill His mission and calling on earth. Jesus’ high calling is the ultimate, most difficult high calling that any human being will ever be asked to do.

In order to go through it, He had to be prepared. Part of that preparation was exactly what He told His disciples to do: keep alert (for the tactics and traps of the enemy) and pray (so you can fight the good fight and have the victory over every temptation).

The body is weak and lazy. It wants to do the easy thing, which is to follow the world’s ways. Therefore, the spirit must be strong in order to lead the flesh and command it to follow Christ. We all have a special calling in our lives that only we are called to do.

Only by watching and praying, will we be able to fulfill our highest calling. Do you know what your high calling is? Is your current job helping you in any way to fulfill it?

Ask the Lord to guide you and place you in positions that will help you prepare to do what He’s called you to do. Pray, pray, pray so your spirit is strong!
