Proverbs 3:13 says, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom....” The wisdom of God is one of the most precious commodities in existence. Wisdom is what gives us the ability to properly apply the knowledge we attain from God’s Word. This is what makes finding wisdom so valuable.

The Bible teaches that wisdom is of more value than both gold and rubies. Some people may not believe that and would rather have gold or rubies. But attaining wisdom will enable us to find riches — and keep them. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” (NLT). There are many rich people who are miserable because they lack the wisdom God offers to make life rich.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding.
(Prov. 4:7)
If wisdom is the most important commodity we can obtain then we must ask: Where does wisdom come from? And how do we acquire it? Proverbs 2:6-7 answers both of those questions:
For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.
Wisdom comes out of God’s Word. The words that come out of His mouth are given to us in the Bible. The Word is God’s wisdom and it is available to us.

Do you want to cultivate wisdom? If so, it comes by meditation in the Word.

As we meditate in God’s Word, those words actually become a part of us; therefore, God’s wisdom becomes a part of us. His wisdom then becomes our wisdoms. That’s when our way will become prosperous and we will act wisely.

Notice again Proverbs 3:13: “Happy is the man who finds wisdom.” If wisdom must be found, then we can assume that it is hidden. But the Word also says wisdom is laid up for us, not from us. There is a big difference.

Wisdom is hidden from the world and laid up for God’s family. But it doesn’t come automatically. God’s wisdom must be sought after. We must dig for it. Like the wise man who built his house upon a rock. “It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the flood waters rise and break against the house, it stands firm because it is well built” (Luke 6:48 NLT).

We must dig deep to find the hidden wisdom of God. Then, when the storms of life arise, we will not be overcome because our house is built on the firm foundation of God’s Word.

Proverbs 2:1-5 tells us exactly where wisdom comes from and how to get it.
My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commandments within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
We must first find God’s wisdom. All of the treasures of wisdom are in Christ, and Christ is in us. Draw it out of the Word through meditation. We must let His Word teach, guide, and dwell in us richly. When we become God-inside-minded, then we will become wisdom-inside-minded.
