It is not the Lord’s desire for His people to live under the fear and pressure of financial and economic crisis. The fear of what the future holds has caused many to experience fatalistic depression instead of joy. The fear of failing health, the dread of divorce, or the mental torment of dreams crumbling can be an emotional prison.

When we quit compromising our own desires and begin to set aside the time and effort to know Who God is, we will be lifted out of hopelessness into the life of abundance that Jesus came to provide.

God has given specific instructions in order to prevent His people from remaining in bondage:
Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. Receive, please, instruction from His mouth, and lay up His words in your heart. If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up; you will remove iniquity far from your tents.

Then you will lay your gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks. Yes, the Almighty will be your gold and your precious silver; for then you will have your delight in the Almighty, and lift up your face to God.

You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, and you will pay your vows. You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.
(Job 22:21-28 MLB)
Notice He said, “…acquaint yourself with Him.” That is the means to our peace of mind. The key to great gain in every area of our lives is becoming familiar with Him.

He is the most precious part of life — a treasure beyond value. When we look to the Lord, we have an assurance that He is ever present and willing to reveal His goodness to us and surround us with His favor.

Faith in God becomes as common as our breath. The Bible teaches us in Romans 10:17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Why does the Word of God create faith? It is because every word in the Bible brings a revelation of Who God is: His nature, His power, and His desires. The words are energized with spiritual power that reveals God to the reader or the listener.

The deeper and more intimate we know the Lord, the stronger our faith. The struggle for faith is replaced by the realization that God is faithful and trustworthy; then our faith develops without a struggle.

Hosea 6:3 says, “Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning….”

I don’t know anyone who loses sleep wondering whether or not the sun will rise in the morning. When we “press in” to truly know God’s character, we will discover that He can be relied on and trusted. He is far more faithful and unchangeable than the rising of the sun each morning.
