“Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” (John 6:11-12)
When you break and distribute the Bread of life—the Word—the same thing will happen that happened when Jesus did it. 1) There will be increase. He had the loaves, he had the bread and there was increase. He fed the 5,000 from the bread. When you break the Bread, there will be increase. 2) You’ll gather everything up and nothing will be lost. Nothing will be lost in your life if what you are breaking and distributing is the Bread of life.
Breaking bread is symbolized in communion but the daily breaking of Bread is the daily breaking of the Word of God and taking it into your heart. Distributing the Bread is speaking the Word of God out of the abundance of your heart. Bread cannot be distributed from an empty basket. When the Word is spoken and sent forth, it will always accomplish what it was sent for. The Word will not return void. Your time in study and distribution will not be wasted.
If a friend starts speaking words of doubt and unbelief into your thought realm and then you start acting like a parrot and say the exact same things that you heard them say, that’s not speaking the Word. That’s not breaking the Bread of life.
Breaking Bread is when you speak the Word of God. If there is power, life, light and spirit in the words of God, then I propose to you that there is exactly the opposite in the words of the devil. There’s death, poverty, disease and destruction.
Jesus explained some things about the Bread.
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst (John 6:32-35). The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven” (John 6:41).
Why did the Jews complain? Because He said, “I am the Bread which came down from heaven.'” That upset them.
Jesus went on to say, “I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die” (John 6:48-50).
There are two kinds of bread. One is physical bread. You can eat physical bread only and you will die. But there is also spiritual Bread. When you eat spiritual Bread, you will live forever. Jesus said that He is the spiritual Bread. John 1 says He was the Word and He was in the beginning and everything that was created was created by Him.
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven; not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51-58).
Jesus is the Word of God and He is the Bread of life. The only way to have increase on earth and eternal life is to eat the Bread of life and speak the Word of God. Jesus is not just the answer. Jesus is the only answer.
