When You Work The Word, The Word Works

by Larry Ollison | The Cutting Edge

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
(James 1:22)

God’s Word is powerful. God’s Word contains everything you need for health and healing, prosperity, and emotional soundness. There is no counsel on earth as great as the counsel that can be found in the scriptures.

Jesus overcame the temptation of satan by the power of the written Word, spoken with faith. The same life changing power that healed the sick, raised the dead, and allowed Jesus and Peter to walk on the Sea of Galilee is available today. That power is the Word of God.

However, according to the Bible, the Word of God in all of its strength is not always active. Actually, it is possible to hear the Good News of the Word of God and know of its power and still not have the power function in your life.

So, what separates the people who see and experience miracle power from those who don’t? Actually, the answer is quite simple. The Word always works for those who work the Word. But how do we work the Word of God?

The disciples asked Jesus what they needed to do in order that they could work the works of God. Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” The word “believe” in John 6:29 is pisteuo which literally translated means “to have faith.” In order for the Word to work, faith in God and His Word must be present.

In Hebrews 4:2 the Bible tells us about two groups of people. Both groups had the gospel preached to them, but the Bible clearly tells us that the Word only worked for one of the two groups. And then it clearly tells us why the Word did not work for one of the groups. It says, “The Word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”

The Word of God is full of promises to the believer. These promises will move mountains, change lives, and bring deliverance from every form of captivity. This power in the Word will work in your life if you will work the Word. You work the Word with faith.

As a reminder, remember this. Living faith hears the Word, believes the Word, speaks the Word, and does the Word. That’s faith.
