For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

(2 Tim.1:7 KJV)

God did not give us fear when He came into our hearts. He doesn’t have any to give us. The Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid, or tongue-tied, or ashamed. Fear is the opposite of faith and comes from the enemy of our soul, the devil.

The Message Bible says: God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.

The atmosphere inside of us is positive because God is love and those perfected in love never fear anything. I remember the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz who was afraid of his own shadow. He forgot how to be who he was supposed to be, the king of the jungle. Well, God’s Spirit working in us doesn’t make cowards out of us. He makes conquerors out of us.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

God loves me and did not give me a spirit of fear. Today I’m not afraid of anything in Jesus’ name.
