Proverbs 4:2 says to pay attention to our words. In verse 21 it says: “Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh” (Prov. 4:21-22 AMP).
The word health in this verse can also be translated “medicine” or “strength.” When we take the Word of God into our minds, it enters our hearts. The Word becomes so alive that it moves from the spiritual realm into the physical realm and heals our flesh. According to the Word of God, what starts out as a spiritual thing can result in medicine and strength to our flesh!
This spiritual law was manifested in our church when the doctors told one of our members that his situation was terminal. They were not giving him any hope. But, Ed, and his wife, Linda, had a lot of hope. Do you know what the devil wanted out of Ed and Linda? He wanted their words. That’s what God wanted too.
God wanted them to overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. God wanted them to say what He said about their situation. Life, according to the Word of God, is when we incline our ears and eyes to the Word of God and we put the Word of God in our hearts. Ed is alive and well today because he would not let the devil steal his confession.
“…Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:23).
Now, three times in this one verse Jesus talked about what you “say.” Why didn’t Jesus say, “If you’ve got a problem in your life, just believe God and it will go away?” Because God’s plan says you’ve got to believe in your heart and confess it with your mouth.
Again, Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb” – one half of the contract – “and by the word of their testimony” – the other half of the contract. It’s not enough to just think it’s going to be okay. What matters to God is if you believe it in your heart and confess it with your mouth. The reason it matters to God is because it is a spiritual law that cannot be waived or overturned. He wants abundant life for His children.
