Today’s Confession: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!”
By changing how you perceive your problems, you can literally change your life from failure and defeat to victory and success.
You are created by God to succeed and not fail. Success does not come without adversity. There is no such thing as success without adversity. Well-known entrepreneur, J. C. Penny, was asked one time the secret to his success and he just simply said, “adversity.” He said, “I would never have amounted to anything had I not been forced to come up the hard way.”
Most people run from adversity. They don’t want adversity. Paul, who was in prison, wrote: “For I know that this shall turn to my salvation . . .” (Phil. 1:19)
Paul was in prison, yet he remained positive. He expected every situation to turn for his good. He knew that prayer changes things and that the Holy Spirit had a supply that would cause every situation to turn for his good.
If you enjoy football, then you might remember a man named Tom Dempsey. Tom Dempsey was born with a handicap. One of his legs had half a foot. He loved football but people told him that he couldn’t play football because of his handicap. But all of his life, his mother and father told him, “Tom, you can do anything you believe you can do.”
He would not accept what everybody else said. Eventually he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers but later he was cut from the team and the New Orleans Saints took him. They needed a field goal kicker and that was his specialty. But unlike most field goal kickers, he kicked the football with half a foot!
In one particular game where the Saints needed a field goal to win in the closing seconds of the ball game, the coach put Tom Dempsey on the field and Tom kicked a record-breaking field goal (63 yards)!
How did he do that? Because he would not accept a loser’s mentality even though he was handicapped. The sports world went wild. It was the longest field goal ever kicked in professional football history and he was the hero!
People couldn’t believe it. The media said he was a record-breaker, a history-maker, and the greatest field goal kicker ever. They asked him, “How does it feel?” “How did you do it?” He said, “My mother and father told me from day one that I could do anything I believed I could do.” He said, “I have been a winner all my life. You folks are just now finding it out.”
Isn’t that great? Do you know what that tells me? Down on the inside of you, there is a winner. There is a champion down there. The world may not know it yet. Your family may not know it yet. Your friends may not know it yet, but down on the inside of you, there is a winner. That winner wants to come out. It is your time.
