It’s a new year- a new beginning.
It’s a time of year when we re-evaluate our lives and goals. In all our planning and goal setting we must remember to put first things first.
The Word makes it clear where our priorities should be, and it also makes it clear the promises and blessings that belong to those who do this.
What the Word Says:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…
(John 1:1-5)But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
(Matt 6:33)The first of all the commandments is; love the Lord thy God…
(Mark 12:28-30)I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people…
(1 Tim. 2:1-2)“Honor your father and mother”-which is the first commandment with a promise…
(Eph. 6:2-3)And the gospel must first be preached to all nations…
(Mark 13:10-11)When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.
(Luke 21:9)
Priorities According to the Word:
- The Word (John 1:1-5)
- The Kingdom (Matt 6:33)
- Love the Lord (Mark 12:28-30)
- Praying for others (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
- Honoring our Parents (Eph. 6:2-3)
- Sharing the Gospel (Eph. 6:2-3)
- Look for the coming of the Lord (Luke 21:9)
Praise God that He works in us to produce both the desire and the ability to do what pleases Him (Philippians 2:13).
We can stand confident in the promise that as we seek Him we will find Him and when we make that our first priority all these things will be added! (Matt. 6:33)
