Righteousness By Faith

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.

(Phil. 3:9 KJV)

We are found in Christ Jesus because of the new birth. We have righteousness, right standing with God, through faith in Jesus and not by any righteousness of our own that is based on living the law or good works.

The Message Bible says: And be embraced by him. I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ—God’s righteousness.

We could not make ourselves acceptable to God by obeying rules or religious regulations. Our best efforts to impress God and gain His approval are not necessary. God has promised to accept us simply because of trusting in Jesus Christ and fully relying on Him in daily situations. Our righteous standing with God is from Him and He is pleased and happy to deliver it to us.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am in Christ Jesus and He has given me the righteousness, which is of God.
