Leviticus 14:14-18 foreshadows what Jesus did for us. Just as the priests performed the ritual explained earlier in Leviticus 8:23 before they could enter the Holy of Holies, these verses show how the same procedure was performed on an Israelite who came to him for atonement.
The priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot. And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.
Then the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle some of the oil with his finger seven times before the Lord.
And of the rest of the oil in his hand, the priest shall put some on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot, on the blood of the trespass offering. The rest of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall put on the head of him who is to be cleansed. So the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord.”

Think about the significance of this. If everything that was made here and happened here on earth in the physical realm was a copy of the places and procedures in the heavenlies, then all the instructions were some type of foreshadowing.
The Word tells us that Jesus went into the Holy of Holies to put His blood on the mercy seat. This was not the mercy seat made with hands, which was a mere copy of the original. To be cleansed, the blood had to be applied on the ear to cover what we hear. The blood was put on the thumb to cover what we do. The blood on the toe represented where we go.
The blood of Jesus cleansed us from all unrighteousness. The priest also used oil. It represented the Holy Spirit. Once we have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, we have the oil applied to everything we hear, everything we put our hands to do and everywhere we walk. But, to top it all off, the anointing oil is poured spiritually over our heads until we are filled to overflowing with the Spirit of God.
Once we fully understand the spiritual implications of the blood, we can begin to access the power that His shed blood bought for us.
