“But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second (Heb. 8:6-7).
“And for this reason He [Jesus] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance” (Heb. 9:15).
The Israelites had the blood of bulls and goats that covered their sin for a short period of time. But as believers, we have the blood of Jesus that eradicates our sin once and for all.
Revelation says:
So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”
(Rev. 12:9-10)
Notice that this scripture uses the past tense – the devil “has been cast down.”
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” (Rev. 12:11).
We overcome the devil, also known as Satan by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.
This scripture tells me that the word of our testimony is not the blood of the Lamb. There is a difference between the Word of God, our testimony, and the blood. We access the protective power of the blood by doing the same thing they did in the Old Testament. We apply it. But under the new covenant, we apply it with the words of our mouths.
The scripture says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Prov. 18:21). That means your life and your death are in the power of your tongue! We must be careful that our words line up with the Word of God. We access the throne of God with our words. What is prayer? Prayer is our words accessing the throne of God.
Remember when the children of Israel were rebelling against Moses? They rebelled with the words of their mouths. Every destruction they brought upon themselves was through their murmuring and complaining.
There are examples all through the Word of God to show us that words are powerful. Your word is the way you access the spirit realm. Your words are the way you apply the blood. You speak it.
Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34; Luke 6:45). You will either speak life or death. What is in your heart? It should be an absolute belief in the knowledge that the blood of Jesus will protect you. With that knowledge, you place the blood on the doorposts of your heart, your house and your family. It will protect you and all your household.
