“And my God shall supply all your need…” (Phil. 4:19 NKJV).
In researching particular verses, we notice that certain words have the great possibility of further augmentation.
One such case is the word supply here in Philippians 4:19: “And my God shall supply all your need…” In the original Greek New Testament this word is pleroo (play-ro’-o). It is akin to another great word pleroma (play’-ro-mah) used to describe the fullness of God.
Pleroo is a verb infinitive meaning “to fill to the full.” It might be defined as “to cram the net,” “to fill up a hollow place,” “to cause to abound,” “to load down,” “to fill the stomach,” “to fill the void,” “to pay off a debt,” “to complete a person so that there is no lack in him.”
By consulting certain key lexicons and translations, we could translate this verse to read: “But my God shall [liberally, fully, gloriously, amply, abundantly] supply all your need [by imparting richly and furnishing abundantly, in a lavish and magnificent way]….”
Try reading out loud as one composite verse all the above amplifications and I believe you will be quickened by the Holy Spirit to discover the immensity of God’s provision.
We should notice that God’s promise to supply all our need was spoken to those who had voluntarily and sacrificially given of their means to relieve the needs of one of God’s servants. It is the abiding Christian whose heart is sensitive toward God and His people who has been given the Lord’s promise for the supply of all his needs.
