The first principle I want to share with you is this: Your tongue will be either a blessing or a curse to you! Proverbs 18:21 tells us that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Your tongue can be your best friend and bring you life and blessings or your tongue can be your worst enemy and bring you a curse and death. That is strong medicine, but it is scriptural truth!
The tongue is a mirror of what you really are. It reveals the real you. The tongue is the tattletale of the brain, the soul, and the spirit. The tongue tells who you are and where you are going!
The tongue tells the end from the beginning. Sow a word, reap a thought. Sow a thought, reap an act. Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny. Where you end up is exactly where you started – with the words of your mouth.
In Luke 6:45, Jesus tells us, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.” Your tongue will tell the world what is going on inside, which is what you really are. “Character” is to your life what a foundation is to a building.
If your character is weak or corrupted, it will fail under pressure, and your life will collapse. What comes out of your mouth tells what is in your heart. If we clean up our lives and get our hearts right with God, our conversation will be ordered by the Lord.
The choice is in your hands to allow your tongue to be either a blessing or a curse! Why would anyone choose to curse themselves when they could be blessed? Make the choice to allow God to change whatever is wrong in your heart so that your whole course of life can be changed by a life-giving force…the tongue!
Allow God to release you from the mouth trap!
