The Power of the Blood is Not Limited

by Larry Ollison | The Cutting Edge

Remember when the children of Israel were rebelling against Moses? They rebelled with the words of their mouths. Every destruction they brought upon themselves was through their murmuring and complaining.

There are examples all through the word of God to show us that words are powerful. Your word is the way you access the spirit realm. Your word is the way you apply the blood. You speak it. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34; Luke 6:45).

You will either speak life or death. What’s in your heart? It should be an absolute belief in the knowledge that the blood of Jesus will protect you. You can place that knowledge over at the doorpost of your heart, your house, and your family. It will protect you and your entire household.

Once you understand the blood covenant, you will begin to see it throughout the Word of God. There is an excellent example in Joshua chapter 2:

Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.” So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.” Then the woman took the two men and hid them….
(Josh. 2:1-4)

Remember, the people of Jericho were in terror because they knew what God had done for the Hebrews already. The scripture tells us beginning in Joshua 2:10 that Rahab had also heard and believed in her heart that God had given the land to the Israelites.

If you look closely at that scripture, you will notice several key things that are significant to know about applying the blood of the covenant. In verse 11, Rahab acknowledged that God was God. Because of this, she told the spies that she wanted to make a covenant with them concerning her household.

The Jews understood covenant, but there wasn’t time to sacrifice a lamb, so they took a scarlet cord, which represented the blood of the lamb, and told Rahab to put it in the window.

In Chapter 6, we read the conclusion of our story, beginning with verse 17. “Now the city shall be doomed by the Lord to destruction, it and all who are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had…” (Josh. 6:17,25).

When the two spies came back with the army to utterly destroy the city, they were looking for the scarlet cord in that window. Therefore, death passed over Rahab and all of her household. Rahab had faith in the covenant and acted upon it by putting the scarlet cord in the window. Therefore, she and all who were with her lived.

There were certain requirements her family had to fulfill before they were saved. First, they had to believe Rahab and act on their belief, or the scripture said, “they would die” (1:19). Those in family were saved because they believed. Look also in Joshua 6:25. The scripture says the covenant not only protected her and her family but, “and all that she had….”

Everything Is Included!
Do you see what this says? God is not only interested in sparing our lives, but by the blood, it says our possessions are included also! When you leave town, you can apply the blood covenant of Jesus as protection over your household. You can plead the blood of Jesus.

Don’t listen to the words of doubt and skepticism. Satan is a liar. There is a real bloodline you can place around your home that Satan has no authority to cross. This isn’t just an Old Testament story. In Hebrews 11:31, it says, “By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace” (Heb. 11:31).

Did you catch that? By faith she didn’t perish, with those who did not have faith. The ones who believed that God would protect them by a promised covenant did not perish like those who did not believe. Do you see how important faith is?
