The Umpire Rules

by Keith Butler | The Anointed Word

“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts …” (Col. 3:15 (AMP).

Allow the peace of God to be the umpire. Allow the peace of God to call the shots, safe or out.

There have been several times I almost got killed not following this. Several years ago, I was driving my car on my normal route home. And I just did not have peace about taking my normal route. Everybody has a normal route you take to go home or to work. You take this street, that street, and you go home. It is the shortest route and that’s why you take that route.

Well, I was taking my normal route home. The Holy Spirit spoke to me real softly and told me don’t take that route home. My head went, “What is going to happen….” It was like there was a check, an alarm going off. But, I kept on driving.

Now this all happened in milliseconds. I get to the traffic light and a car near the curb goes by and kicks something up from the back of the tire wheel. It goes up in the air and I’m watching it. It kept getting bigger and bigger as it rotated downward, and traffic zoomed by me. Then I could see that this thing is big, and whatever it is, it is coming straight at my nose.

About that time I froze. I can’t get the seatbelt off. This thing obviously has some size, speed and mass to it. I’m trying to get out of the car, or something or anything. If this thing comes through the window I’m going to get hurt seriously. And I can’t move.

Finally, it shatters the windshield. The glass flies in my face and I close my eyes. I hardly even have time to say “Jesus.” I open my eyes and glass is everywhere. This 2 1/2″ x 3′ feet hunk of metal is stuck in the steering column right in front of me. It was big enough that it would have killed me.

Now, this happened because I did not let peace rule me. It was God’s mercy and all my confessions that saved me. I believe that as that thing came for the windshield an angel said smacked it down. First of all I praised God. Second of all I thanked God. Then I repented for not obeying Him in the first place. Let peace rule at all times.
