Yoked With Jesus

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.”

(Matt. 11:29 NASB)

To be yoked together with Jesus implies a coupling together with Him. Picture yourself and Jesus in partnership together on every issue or project you are involved in. You are never alone. You always have His strength pulling the weight and you are walking stride for stride with Jesus. That’s quite a picture. That’s quite an invitation.

The Message Bible says: “Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.”

You are told to take this yoke upon you and learn from Jesus how He walks and carries the load. Jesus is gentle and humble in heart. As you will do this you will become more like Jesus, more gentle and less defensive and prideful. From beginning to end, you will have rest for your soul and find peace for your life.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I take Jesus’ yoke and I learn His ways and protocols. Jesus is my Lord and as I trust Him He gives me rest.
