You Are Forgiven, Accepted, Chosen

by Vikki Burke | Enriching Life Daily

We are accepted by God not because we do everything right. No one does everything right. No, we are accepted by our Heavenly Father because we come to Him in faith. Our rightstanding before Him is a free gift.

In Galatians 3:26, the Apostle Paul said, “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” Again in Galatians 4:6-7, Paul says, “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’ Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Faith in the covenant makes us a son just as much as Jesus is a Son. We are no longer slaves to sin, to our flesh, or even to God. We are sons of the living God.

As heirs and sons, each of us have been elevated to the position God intended for us to occupy from the beginning. How did God do this? By sending His Son Jesus to become a Man forever. Jesus was then raised up as a reborn Man out of death, hell, and the grave, to be reestablished and seated at the right hand of the throne of His Heavenly Father.

This may sound surprising, but there is a Man now seated on the throne—the Firstborn from the dead, Christ Jesus. Even more shocking is the fact that today there is a Man in the Godhead. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit make up the Trinity of the Godhead.

From eternity past, the Jesus was always God’s Son—yet the day came when Jesus became a Man born to a virgin in Bethlehem. He lived and died as a sinless Man and is now raised up in total authority, with a Name that is higher than every other name in Heaven and earth.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.
(Phil. 2:9-10 NKJV)

Now in Christ, God has repositioned those who give their lives to Jesus to the place He designed for them in the beginning—elevated to the place of shared authority over all of God’s creation. Ephesians 2:6 says, “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (NKJV).

From the beginning God gave blessed mankind and gave him dominion. Genesis 1:28 says, “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion…’” (NKJV).

Today that blessing has been commanded upon anyone and everyone who will step into his or her covenant of sonship. We are forgiven. We are accepted. We are chosen. We are seated together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, called to live in His blessings as a son of the living God.
