You Shall Be Witnesses Unto Me

by Keith Butler | The Anointed Word

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

As a believer, you are supposed to be reaching out to others. Even in the natural, the purpose for war is to liberate the masses. Well, there is a spiritual war going on in which Satan has taken many souls captive. You have a calling to liberate those who are bound. Jesus said, “…and ye shall be witnesses unto me….”

Our job as God’s soldiers is to be a liberating force. God’s will and purpose for manifesting the Holy Ghost was so that every person will know and make a decision for Jesus.

In the Book of Acts, chapter one, the latter part of verse five says, “but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” The Greek term for baptism is “immersion.”

When the disciples were at the upper room in one accord, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and they began to speak with tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now listen to me, speaking in tongues is not the Holy Ghost. It is the physical evidence of having received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Therefore, when we receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, we are immersed or covered in the Holy Ghost from head to toe, so that we might have supernatural ennoblement for power and ability. The Bible says, you shall have power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you.

Well what is this power for? Jesus said, “…and ye shall be witnesses unto me…” This power will enable you to reach out to other people because you have something on you that will attract people to you and to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

However, most Christians just want go to church every Sunday, receive the Word, go home, work all week, then repeat the process the next week and so on.

That can’t be the attitude of the body of Christ. If it is, then it’s going to be sad when we stand before the Lord and He asks us how many people have we liberated.

As believers, we have a responsibility to liberate the masses. We already have everything we need to reach as many people as we desire, so let’s do it with a willing heart.
