Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
(1 Peter 2:24 KJV)

The burden of our sins Jesus carried in His own body when He went to the Cross. He bore our sin there. So, as far as our sins are concerned, we can live new righteous lives. The burden of our sicknesses Jesus also cured by receiving stripes. So we, as far as our sicknesses are concerned, can live hale and hearty lives.

The Message Bible says: He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross, so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing.

Peter is quoting from an Old Testament verse (Isa. 53:5). Jesus took our sins on Himself when He gave His body to be nailed on the cross. It also tells us that by His wounds we have been healed and made whole. God really must want us well if He put His Son Jesus through all that so we can be healed.

Today's Thought to Take With You:
By Jesus' stripes we were healed. If we were healed that means I am healed now. I receive my healing by trusting God for His work
to be done in me.
