2 Peter 3:8-9 (NLT)
But you must not forget, dear friends, that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.

You may have friends who know you are a Christian and mock you because you expectantly wait for Jesus to come back. Memorize the verse above to make your friends aware the reason He hasn’t come back is because of people like them—to give them more time to repent and believe. God truly doesn’t want to lose any of His sheep. But it is our choice after all. We have free will. It is because of God’s mercy that Jesus hasn’t come back yet.

If you are reading these words today and you are not saved, make a decision to accept Christ right now. Just tell Him you repent of your sins, you believe He died for you to have eternal life, and you want Him to be Lord of your life (John 3:16 NLT). You need to do three basic things: acknowledge that you are a sinner, believe in Jesus as your savior, and confess to other people that He is your savior.

If you are reading these words today and you are saved, continue to pray for your friends and loved ones and be a witness to them of the love of God, because time is short. God doesn’t want anyone to perish—that includes you and your loved ones.
