Nowadays, there’s an APP for just about anything. When we realize we have a desperate need for something in particular, but do not have an APP for it, we take action!
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(Phil. 4:19 NKJV)
Who would’ve thought in a million years that you would be able to tap your phone’s screen to find out the name, album, and year of release of a song playing the elevator? By the time you get to the 23rd floor, you could have downloaded and purchased that same song to enjoy on your ride home. Well, there’s an APP for that.

Nowadays, there’s an APP for just about anything—directions to a restaurant, translating a phrase from English to French, getting the latest headline news, or even playing tic-tac-toe.  How did we ever manage before?

When we realize we have a desperate need for something in particular, but do not have an APP for it, we take action!  We go to the APPS store, type in our access code, do a quick search, and download the APP with the most reviews. “Voila, problem solved!” Over the next few days, we’re heavily relying on our most recent smorgasbord addition. Then, it gets kind of boring and irrelevant. The party is over. Instead of deleting it, we create a new need in order to justify getting another APP.

Take out your phone. Look at it. Waiting on your home screen is a plethora of tools and resources that were once critical to your daily survival. Now, they’re just categorized clutter that gets automatically updated every two weeks. Yet, you keep them because they still have purpose. Each one is intentionally, powerfully and creatively designed to meet a very specific need. You just don’t have need of it…at least for right now.

Unfortunately, today’s Christians are like smart phones, and we treat God as if He’s just another APP on this busy home screen we call life. “I’ve got Jesus. He’s great! Look at what He did for me yesterday. ”  We talk about Him like He’s the featured APP of the day. We rush to show off His blessings by uploading photos and videos to our favorite social media sites responding to peoples’ replies. We shuffle Him around and group Him together with similar APPS so we can conveniently get to Him when we need to. He is simply just another cool accessory to compliment a comfortable “Mr. Such E. Much” lifestyle.

My friend, I am here to warn you that God is not just another an APP on your home screen only to be used when you need Him most. God is the APP of all APPS!
And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.  (Rev. 19:16 NKJV)
  • You want to try something new and healthy to eat. There’s an APP for that.“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Ps. 34:8 NKJV)
  • What about guidance? There’s an APP for that. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. ” (Ps. 32:8)
  • You want to learn a new language? There’s an APP for that. “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues. ” (Mark 16:17 NKJV)
  • Need to book a weekend get-away? There’s an APP for that. “My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” (Is. 32:18 NKJV)
Think about this: A king is sovereign by hereditary right; a lord has authority, control, and power over a kingdom. Christ is both, so let Him be both! Stop trying to download other APPS in people, jobs, possessions, status, and money because they are not designed to do what only He can do. Right now, you can tap into His power and APP-ly the blood of Jesus to every single area of your life—not as a matter of convenience but because you want to.

The more you spend time in prayer and worship, being obedient, serving others, and studying and speaking God’s word, the more you will be able to know and do God’s will for your life.   The more you do God’s will, the more you will see that He really does meet all of your needs.

When you prioritize your relationship with God, all those other APPS will become the accessories, not Him. You won’t have to delete them because He will give them to you out of His abundance.

I challenge you today to stop doing God a favor by passively using Him when you need something. Honor Him with your whole life for He is worthy of nothing less! And whatever you are facing, just remember, “There’s an APP for that, and His name is Jesus.”
