When faith cometh, fear goeth! Fear leaveth when faith cometh. God is a faith God (Heb. 11:6). God works by faith. The
devil is a fear devil. The devil works by fear.

There are 365 times in the Bible where we are told “fear not.” Jesus said, “Fear not: believe only.” (Luke 8:50)

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe,
and therefore speak. (2 Cor. 4:13)

The Apostle Paul quotes the psalmist David, “I believed, therefore have I spoken….” (Psalm 116:10) There can be no doubt that David had a spirit of faith. He killed a lion, a bear, the giant Goliath, and more than 10,000 Philistines. Case closed, the man had a spirit of faith!

However, in Psalms, we see David dealing with and overcoming fear. In Psalms 27:1, David declared, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” He we see David believing and speaking. The spirit of faith requires both!

Faith Determines Your Destiny
In the midst of adversity, David was overcoming fear. The spirit of faith is necessary to do the will of God. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and the He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Faith is absolutely necessary to please God and do the will of God. Dr. Lilian B. Yeomans said, “God has tied Himself irrevocably to human cooperation in the execution of divine purposes. He has made man’s faith a determining factor in the work of redemption.

Although God is sovereign, He has tied Himself to human cooperation to work out His divine purposes. Jesus said, “…according to your faith be it unto you,” (Matt. 9:29). As you know, the first ingredient in the spirit of faith is to believe.

In Mark 5, when the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus, she got healed. Jesus said, "Daughter, your faith has made you whole.” Brother Kenneth E. Hagin (Dad Hagin) said the Lord told him, “If her faith made her whole, then your faith will
make you whole." Praise the Lord!

There Is A Fight To Faith
At the time the woman was healed, Jesus was on the way to the house of Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue, to pray for his daughter, who was dying. When Jesus told the woman, “Your faith has made you whole,” Jairus’ servants came from his house, saying, “Don’t trouble Jesus any longer. Your daughter is already dead.” When Jesus heard them say that to Jairus, He gave him some vital information, “Fear not, only believe.”

There is a fight to faith. At that moment, Jairus could have believed the bad report, gotten in fear, and given up on his miracle. But Jesus said, “Let Me tell you what to do in this situation, fear not, only believe.”

When the doctors told us that my wife, Trina, had a brain tumor, all the specialists and neurosurgeons gave their opinions and bad reports for seven days. Friends called and asked, “What are you going to do? All I said was, “I don’t know what I’m going to do, but I know what I’m not going to do.”

I decided to resist the spirit of fear and “fear not.” That means I remained in faith and continued to believe God. I believed the Word of God. I choose to fear not, only believe. Believing is a choice!

Fear has several relatives and companions: doubt, anxiety, stress, and worry. These all stem from the same fear. It is impossible to have a spirit of faith and spirit of fear at the same time. When you have a spirit of faith, you don’t have a spirit of fear.

The Bible says that in the last days, people’s hearts will fail them because of fear (Luke 21:26). In 2nd Timothy 1:7, Paul writes, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Also John through the Holy Spirit says in 1 John 4:4, “…because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

If God didn’t give you a spirit of fear, where did you get it? Fear comes from the devil. God is a faith God. Jesus said in Mark 9:23, “…If you can believe, all things are possible to him (her) who believes.” Praise the Lord!

This means, “Fear not, only believe.” Thank you Jesus!

Summary Points:
• It is impossible to have a spirit of faith and a spirit of fear at the same time.
• When you have a spirit of faith, you don’t have a spirit of fear.
• I choose to fear not, only believe. Believing is a choice.
