Christmas Blessings from cfaith
May the spirit and peace of Christmas fill your heart this holiday season

December 2010

I was looking through some old family photographs of past Christmas holidays the other night, and I was reminded again how quickly time passes. Were my kids really that small? Look at all those smiles! What ever happened to those toys? Wow, did I really wear that shirt?!

Pictures such as these are precious. Over the years it has been a blessing to watch my children grow up and begin to know and experience God in their own unique way. It is obvious that the Lord is directing their steps, and sometimes all I can do is marvel at His love and patience with them...and with me.

I don't know about you, but I tend to get a bit nostalgic during the holidays—especially Christmas. But as much as I love looking at those wonderful pictures and thinking about our cherished memories, I am equally excited about the future and what the Lord has in store for those who love Him.

God said the glory of the latter days will be greater than the former (Hag 2:9). God said He knows the plans He has for us...plans that are "good" which will give us a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11). Praise the Lord! The Word is filled with encouraging promises from God.

So as tempting as it is to live in the past or hang on to 'the good ole days,' let's be careful to not camp there. I don't want to hinder God's promise or ability to shape my future or give me hope for what tomorrow may bring. After all, that's one of the powerful messages of Christmas. Jesus came to give all of us a future full of grace and hope.

So while we cherish the past and present, let's never forget to keep our hearts full of expectation for what is to come. Because according to the Word, it's going to be good...and I have a feeling we haven't seen anything yet.
