I'm a Christian who is trying to overcome some bad habits. I found out that accepting Jesus doesn't automatically get rid of all bad habits. What can I do?

Some bad habits simply fall away when we accept Jesus as our Savior; others don't change that easily. The first thing you'll want to do to overcome bad habits is to invoke the help of the Lord.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
(Heb. 4:16)
We need to boldly ask the Lord to help us and give us His grace or ability to overcome the habit. We need to find things that we can do which will become good habits. These good habits that we form will replace the bad ones.

Did you ever notice that the Bible not only tells us to stop doing certain things, but it always gives us something good to do in place of the wrong actions?
Therefore, putting away lying, each one speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another....

Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
(Eph. 4:25,28)
Because we are habitual by nature, we need to do something repetitiously. I noticed that I can get into the habit of eating ice cream or fruits. I found that my body will crave and enjoy fruits in the same manner as it craved ice cream.

Make yourself do something good to replace the bad habit, stick to it, and the day will come when you no longer operate in the bad habit.
