Where there is the letter of the law, there are religious traditions. And where there are religious traditions, there is bondage. Men's opinions come from religious tradition. And men's opinions always bind you instead of set you free. However, that which is of the Spirit produces life and freedom.
The passage of Scripture found in 2 Corinthians 3:6-14 is specifically talking about Moses being up on the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments written and engraved in stones. It was glorious indeed.
You remember what happened. Moses wanted to see God's face. Knowing what that would do, God said (and I paraphrase), "But I can't let you see my face, because if you did you couldn't stand it. Your body would die. The glory, the beauty, the power, the magnificence of My face is too strong for your body to take it. You would have a heart attack."
So He said He would hide Moses in the cleft of a rock. And then He would put His hand over the cleft, and allow Moses to see His back. And God passed by and Moses saw his back.
It was so glorious that Moses had to put a veil on his face because it shone too bright with the glory of God for the children of Israel to look upon him. The Word of God says that the writing of the Ten Commandments in the stones was glorious, but they were to be done away with.
It was glorious because it was right. The Ten Commandments showed mankind that they needed a Savior, because everyone has broken at least one of those commandments in their lifetime. Haven't you? There was no hope for man to fulfill the Ten Commandments on his own. Man needed a merciful Savior.
We see then that there is that which is of the law or the Ten Commandments, but then there is that which is of the Spirit of life - the New Testament
"For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech" (2 Cor. 3:11 KJV).
We have hope because a merciful Savior was born. His name is Jesus. He died and was raised again for our justification. When we believe on Him, we are in right standing with God. Our faults are under the blood that He shed.
You and I today are righteous because of what Jesus did for us. And the righteousness in Jesus is more glorious than the righteousness of the law.
Say, "Thank you Father. Jesus has made me righteous."
